Here are a few players to watch in this Polk County Preseason contest…

Lake Wales

Kathleen

QB

Railond Garrett, 2014 – Really hoping for a breakout season for Railond.  Big arm and increasing accuracy.  Has come a long ways since last season with his mechanics and footwork.  Can throw every pass and starting to really develop his touch. Kevin Wilson, 2014 – A natural athlete who is being recruited as such. Grew attention as a defensive back but volunteered to play QB because of the void at the position. Will provide an adequate passing threat and extremely good running threat for Kathleen.

RB

Justin Henderson, 2015 – Power and speed. Perfect combination of the two.  Good size and strength. Able to command the ground game, moves the chains and pop a big run. Anthony Ware, 2015 – Almost the exact same player as Henderson for Lake Wales.  Very good balance and vision.  Has the ability to hit a homerun when ever he touches the ball.

WR

Javon Harrison, 2014 – Offers from a bunch of major BCS schools.  One of the most explosive players in our coverage area.  Big Play ability, fast and agile.  Has the size to be a “big deal” at the next level.  Soft hands and sweet feet. Davi’on Riley (TE), 2014 – One of the more physical TE’s in our area.  Great speed and hands.  Very athletic, catches the ball in traffic and seals the edge.  Just as good of a run blocker as pass catcher.

OL

Luke Hiers, 2015 – Popular prospect in Polk County.  One of our top interior linemen and top 2015 prospects.  Aggressive at the point of attack, comes off the ball well and plays with leverage.  Shows some explosiveness and pass blocks well. Zach Shinn, 2014 – Big body lineman, uses hands well and moves pretty well. Will be counted on to contributed heavily in order to open holes for Henderson and protect Garrett.

DL

Cody Polston, 2014 – This should be a big year for the big bull.  Not highly recruited, but highly productive.  He is a “wall” vs the run, because of his full body strength.  Can be a 1 or 2 gap player. Jovante Denson, 2014 – Fast, turns the corner well and will challenge offensive tackles.  Extremely good take off and anticipates the snap count.   Gets over trash and can get to the sideline.

LB

Eddie Joseph, 2015 – Don’t let the size fool you.  Stands around 5-9, but plays 6-2.  Scrappy, sideline to sideline player who seems to be the heartbeat of the defense. Demiracle Flournoy, 2014 – Not a name that hits the press often.  But he hits opponents often.  Reads and reacts very quickly. Can redirect, flip his hips and plays well in pass coverage.

DB

Marcus Walker, 2015 – One of the most talented 2015 prospects in our coverage area.  Plays the jump ball as well as any other.  Able to play the middle third or deep halves in coverage.  Great closing speed and lateral pursuit.  Will make it difficult for any team to attack Lake Wales defense deep. Shaquille Black, 2014 – Pure football player. Plays best when close to the line of scrimmage or in the box.  Attitude like a line backer and skills of a defensive back.  Team first attitude and it shows on film.  Not the biggest, but teams have a hard team running at him.
