#1 DT in Tampa Bay (Tri-County) packs big punch

Defensive ends and outside linebackers are often credited for applying pressure to opposing quarterbacks, but dominating interior defensive linemen play a HUGE part in the pass rush and defending the run.

A good defensive tackle has the ability to apply interior pressure and obstruct the downfield vision of the passer. If a QB is not able to step up into the pocket to avoid the rush from the outside, the percentage of him avoiding the sack will be drastically decreased.

Pasco defensive tackles, Joey Ivie is an unheralded pocket-pushers who makes life difficult for opposing quarterbacks and easier for defensive teammates to chase down quarterbacks from the edge. Currently, Ivie holds offers from UMass, Western Kentucky, Iowa State, FIU, Bowling Green, Purdue, Texas Tech and Miami. He is receiving some heavy interest from West Virginia. This past season he earned 1st Team All North Suncoast and 1st team All Conference honors. The 6-4/268lbs rising senior recorded 53 total tackles, 35 TFL, 8 sacks, 2 cause fumbles and 4 pass break-ups.

Ivie is currently ranked as the #1 interior defensive lineman in the Tri-County (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco Counties). He has excellent reaction, good push, plays with live hands and shows great footwork. See Hilites below.
