My Observations form Ignite 2013

** I was able to check in the walk up athletes. The first individual that came through my line was Christian Pellage a 6’7 sophomore from Nature Coast High School. He is definitely a kid that has a lot of filling out to do but he is a name you might want to look out for in the future. He is projected to be 6’10 his senior year.

** In 2014 the Bay area might have the best collection of offensive lineman in the nation. I was so impressed with all of the big-nasties that attended the camp. They dominated throughout the day and were the talk of the camp.

** Lakewood Junior offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn was a man among boys. He demoralized competitors in one-on-one drills in a boisterous and bombastic fashion. He is the perfect offensive lineman having an ideal combination of size, grit, and viciousness. I was uneasy every time a defensive lineman went against him because I felt that he might literally break the poor kids in half.

** Tampa Catholic Junior Corey Martinez shared offensive-line MVP with Wynn and it was well deserved. Though Martinez is less tumultuous then Wynn he is equally as impressive. Martinez is a highly skilled and silent assassin with near perfect form in every drill. Where Wynn physically batters his opposition into submission Martinez out-techniques his opponents and the results are just as brutal.

** Hillsborough Junior lineman Frank Carter is a massive human being that could play along either the defensive or offensive line at the next level. He will certainly be signing a D-1 scholarship during signing day next year.

**Plant City High Junior Montel McBride is an amazing offensive-lineman who turned in an impressive performance at the camp. McBride definitely proved that he should be in the discussion of best lineman in the Bay area during one-on-one drills where he exhibited both brute force and astonishing athleticism for a person of his size.

**Plant City Junior Sedrick King has a reach that any boxer would die for. I was amazed that he was able to get 13 reps of 185 on the bench press because he easily had the longest arms of any athlete at the camp. He used those huge arms masterfully against the offensive line in one-on-one drills by chopping and slapping his way to the quarterback.

**When I interviewed Scott Patchan earlier in the week he said that he wanted to earn an MVP shirt and prove to his family that he was no longer a runt. Well, he did both this weekend. The 6’5 sophomore from Freedom is lightning quick off the line and gave offensive lineman fits with his explosiveness. He also repped his age on the bench press lighting 185lbs 15 times. He certainly has a bright future in the sport and I can’t wait to see how dominate he is in a few years.

**Eric Bennett, East Bay junior DE looked like a grown man. Well put together and super fast off the edge. Beat some of the top offensive linemen at the showcase and showed plenty of tolls to be a threat.
