TAMPA, AUG. 24, 2017 – Beginning this Saturday USF Athletics and the USF Radio Network will give Bulls fans a new way to connect with all the excitement of the Green and Gold with the launch of USF Bulls Unlimited, a new 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week station dedicated to USF sports on iHeartRadio, the free all-in-one digital music, podcasting and live streaming radio service which now also offers on demand subscription services.
The groundbreaking, 24/7 digital station will make USF one of a handful of collegiate programs in the country to provide fans with around the clock sports coverage that can be heard anywhere across multiple platforms spanning mobile, in-home, wearables, gaming, auto and more.
The channel will launch Saturday at noon with a classic rebroadcast of the Bulls’ very first football game played Sept. 6, 1997 vs. Kentucky Wesleyan. Original programming and a replay of the first USF Football Radio Show with Charlie Strong will then lead up to the 2017 Bulls kickoff at San Jose State (7:30 p.m. ET), starting with the pregame show at 5:30 p.m.
“We are very excited to team with our partners at TBEP to launch this new channel for Bulls fans,” USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. “This is really unique in college athletics to deliver live events, coaches shows, archived replays of great games and original athletics programming across the spectrum of all our sports and have it available wherever Bulls fans may be in the world free of charge.”
Programming on USF Bulls Unlimited will include live game broadcasts, USF coaches radio shows, and past memorable games from football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and more. Original programming will also be added to the mix featuring USF student-athletes, coaches and administrators and giving fans a closer look at the Bulls and college athletics.
Darek Sharp, a member of the Tampa Bay sports radio scene since 1988, will join USF Athletics and oversee the day-to-day programming of the station as well as creation of original content, such as USF Bulls Beat and The American Now. Sharp will also join the broadcast team on USF Radio Network broadcasts.
“More than a quarter century ago, I was fortunate to get in on the ground floor of this thing called sports talk radio,” Sharp said. “I’m getting that same sense of thrill and anticipation to start USF Bulls Unlimited.
“This is going to be big. I’ve always been proud to cover Tampa Bay sports, but this will be unprecedented as far as the amount of coverage — and I mean every sport, believe me. Bulls fans, get ready. And get used to my voice!”
Sharp has been the primary play-by-play announcer for the Tampa Bay Storm for the last seven seasons and has been a well-known voice and show producer on AM 620 WDAE since 2001.

USF Football game broadcasts originate two hours before kickoff with the pre-game show. The USF Football Radio Show debuts Tuesday at World of Beer. It will air on Tuesday nights, when the Bulls travel or play on Thursday or Friday and on Thursday nights for Saturday USF games.
