Under the Radar: Gibbs 2014 ATH for President?

Jacquez President, Gibbs

As I attended the Gibbs vs Northeast spring game, one player completely stole the show. This young man was well worth the price of admission. #7 was all I knew prior to 5 minutes into the game. By that time, he had caught a few passes and intercepted a tip pass and went untouched to the end zone. Name acquired: Jacquez President…Oh and he was good on this night.

A transfer from Boca Ciega, his name floated around among college coaches who attended the Wiregrass Ranch, Sunlake, Wesley Chapel spring cluster the night before. Personally, I had never seen the young man play so I could not provide my opinion of him. But, it was clear that the coaches were anticipating watching him play.

Bring you back to the game, it’s easy to evaluate a player that runs past the defenders, catches a lot of footballs and scores a few TDs. What you must look close to see, are the little things and the root of why President had such a good game. 1) Use of the body: He did this so well. When Northeast attempted to press him, he stacked the defenders allowing him a two way cut out of his breaks. 2) Route Running: Very direct in his release. No wasted movement. He was very desicive and used his eyes well not to give a away the point at which he was ready to breakdown. 3) Attitude: Once he smelled fear in the defensive backs, he took advantage. Displayed a confidences that screamed “You can’t cover me” and for the most part, they could not. He was just that good, that night.
