Tuesday: Top Performances from Lakeland

Joel Berry, Lake Highland Prep

Day 1 FHSAA FINALS

TOP PERFORMERS

1. Joel Berry, Lake Highland Prep 2014 G – 39 points, 10/18 from the field, 19/24 from the foul line and 9 Rebounds vs. Berkeley Prep. He was unstoppable. Did not matter who tried to defend him. He was just to quick, too shifty and too strong at the rim. Showed his basketball IQ and supreme feel for the court.

2. Juwan Durham, Tampa Prep 2016 C – Showed a complete game. Scored in the paint, step out the paint and hit buckets, shot the ball with confidence. Had a dunk affair also for added measure. Ended the game wit 25 points and 17 rebounds.

3. Jamal Palmer, Grandview Prep 2015 SF (6-3) – Great in transition, ran the floor extremely well. He used his body really well, thick frame and finished strong at the rim. Smart player that moved well without the ball in his hands. Best when pushing the ball up the floor and creating in the open court.

4. Michael Fridella, Tampa Prep 2015 G – Ended the game with 21 points. The point total was a surprise. But his aggressiveness to get his shot off “by any mean necessary” was more of a surprise. Played extremely well.

5. Joe Kirby, Sagemont – Scored 22 points 7/9 from the field vs. Providence and just blew the game open. If the ball was coming off his hands, more than likely it was going in the hoop.

6. Prince Ali, Sagemont – The Prince quietly put on a great show. A couple of nice dunks, one tomahawk from the baseline that ramped up the crowd. 22 points, 7 rebounds vs. Providence.

7. Adonys Henriquez, Orlando Christian Prep 2014 G (6-6) – Showed ball handling and court vision. Got hot and really started to knock down some big shots vs, Sarasota Christian. Ended the game with 16 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assist.

8. Jacob Mathis, Berkeley Prep 2016 F – On the BIG stage, the young athlete played big. 21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, 50% from the filed. Did the most damaged when leading scorer, Justin Gray fouled out. Great game!!!

9. Lance Crawford, Sagemont – 16 points, 50% from the field, 3 assist vs Providence.

10. Christian Terrell, Providence 2014 PG – 16 points and did his work in the second half. Stunned by a really good Sagemont team, Terrell didn’t find hit stoke and get aggressive till Providence was feeling the pressure in the second half.
