Baveon Johnson, Lake Gibson

1. MVP Baveon Johnson, Lake Gibson 2016 OL – Did not lose one 1 on 1 battle. Johnson was incredibly athletic and mirrored the defensive linemen extremely well. He had a few really good battles with Kyle Henderson that would have been fun to see if both athletes were in pads. However, Johnson’s hand placement, technique, footwork and control helped him earn offensive line MVP honors.

2. MVP Reuben Jones, Lake Gibson 2015 DE – Jones depends on his take off and speed. He has improved his pocket of attack moves and his footwork is sweet. Though speed is his first method of attack, Jones showed strength and some finesse. His spin move was pretty effective on Sunday and offensive linemen had their hands full attempting to keep him away from the QB.

3. Christian Pellage, Nature Coast 2015 OT – His length is so impressive. The 6-5 offensive tackle towers over opponents and uses his long arms to keep defensive ends at bay. He had some really good battles with Reuben Jones showing off his footwork and technique. One of the best showcase performances we have seen from Mr. Pellage.

4. Keldric Preston, Robinson 2016 DE – He has a great look. Wide shoulders, long arms and strong lower body. Preston was one of the younger defensive linemen and he held his own. Won the majority of his one on one battles and really improved his first step, anticipation and take off.

5. Hal Roberson, Riverview 2015 OL – So underrated, under recruited and such a good interior prospect. Roberson is better than advertised and showed why with some of the best around. This past Sunday he showed a good set up, mobility, leverage and control. Also pretty flexible and quick for his size

6. Kyle Henderson, Plant 2015 DT – It was tough in the middle of the offensive line and defensive linemen were handicapped (safety reasons) not permitted to Bull Rush the offensive linemen. In a real game, this would limit the effectiveness of an interior linemen. However, Henderson showed better footwork than he did in January at Ignite and a pretty good first step.

7. Sam Skinner, Bloomingdale 2017 DE – Only a rising sophomore and just now starting to put more tools in his toolbox. He didn’t win every matchup, but he did win his fair share. He was not the quickest, but he showed speed. He wasn’t the most agile, but he showed good footwork.
