Recruiting mailbag: More letters, Interceptions and Watch List

If you would like to submit your questions, please do so HERE

Fritz: How would you know if a school has actual interest in you as could receive a offer one day. Because my son was sent a letter a few weeks ago from San Diego State that said “welcome to the recruiting process”, and since then the school has sent letters about coaching staff, academics, and eligibility standards. Does that really mean anything?

BCP: Excellent question. Means a couple things.
A) They got his name from SOME WHERE. Doesn’t matter where just yet, but the name is in their system for the time being.
B) Some mail is always better than no mail.
C) Last, it means HE COULD, not promised, but could become a prospect they evaluate in the future.
All good things at this point. He is getting form mail, which is mail thousands of prospects get stating the same mail. However, refer back to letter A and B above.

Gil: Who is the corner back in the BCP area with the most interceptions currently? How many does he have? Which D1 schools have him on their respective radars? Does he have any offers from any D1 schools?

BCP:
Wilan Harvey
Gabe Brown
Devin Duckett
Maurice Turner
Robert Sanders
Chavez Pownell

All the players listed above have 5 interceptions on the season. At this point, Chavell Pownell has a few division 1 schools who are really interested. Division 1 college coaches have not expressed interest TO ME, in the other prospects listed. Most will be lower division prospects. Wilan Harvey could become a division 1 prospect

Gil: Gabe Brown, #27, CB for Durant High got three interceptions and a fumble recovery against Strawberry Crest on Oct. 4 2013. Brown also scored after scampering forty-two yards on a pick six against Gaither on 27 Sep. 2013. Does he have any D1 offers? Who? Can you do a segment on him?

BCP: No D1 offers to my knowledge. I think he is a good player and definitely a playmaker for his team. Like the way he attacks the ball in the air. Good game speed and body control.

Khalilah: Ok I do not see Quadarius Patterson, Wylan Harvey and Jamil Morris on that Double Nickel list..What is going on? Those are some very talented guys who put Osceola back on the map.

BCP: There are 4 counties we cover that all have very talented players. It’s not a knock on those three players you named, but there are only 55 players who can be listed. Some will make that list, many will not. The area we cover is larger than you think and the talent pool spreads wide. If they are listed, who would you remove? That’s always the toughest question. Try and answer it without bias. Also, that list was created prior to the start of the 2013 season.
