Patriots pound the Cougars, 35-0

Pinellas Park’s offensive line led a dominant Patriots ground game to a 35-0 win over Countryside in a 7A District 10 contest.

Patriots scored on their first three drives of the first half and their first two drives of the second half. Senior running back Torrance Andrews opened the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run and added a 25-yard touchdown reception from senior quarterback Zamari Maxwell in second quarter. Junior running back Ethan Blanchard had scoring runs of 4 and 33 yards in second and third quarters, respectively. Senior running back Dale Foster added a 21-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter following a Cougars punt snap miscue.

On the night, Torrance Andrews had 84 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns, Ethan Blanchard rushed 9 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns, and junior running back Azyia Vance had 11 carries for 81 yards.

Patriots’ defense limited Cougars to 179 yards of total offense and got contributions from senior safety Makel Calhoun with a sack, tackle-for-loss, quarterback hurry, and a pass knockdown, senior linebacker Paris Boyd had two tackle-for-losses and two quarterback hurries, and junior cornerback Rodney Sivils Jr. added a pass breakup and a blocked field goal.

Countryside’s junior receiver/returner Zach Johnson had 84 all-purpose yards, junior safety Peyton Xayasone had double digit tackles and pass breakup, and junior linebacker Gavin Petrillo had a pass breakup and the hardest hit of the night.

Pinellas Park improves to 4-0, 1-0 and will host Lakewood next week while Countryside falls to 3-2, 1-1 and will be on the road to play Largo.
