Matyk believes he can run any system of offense in college. He has been under center at Osceola working a more pro-style offense with a lot of play action passes. OHS has also implemented the spread and he feels comfortable running it as well.

“I think I can pick up any system,” he said.

Matyk made his sixth college visit when he visited Notre Dame this weekend. He also visited Duke, North Carolina, Ohio State, University of South Florida and Dartmouth.

Although he hasn’t received any offers yet he is confident with the letters now rolling in, that his time will come.

“It was pretty nice. Weather was great. Game was fun to go to. Campus is great. It’s beautiful.”

“They have a lot of tradition. That was the major thing. Athletics center and everything they had was really nice, but the tradition was a big thing.”

Matyk visited a number of camps over the summer including: BCP Combine (2010, 2011), ESPN Elite 11, Nike SPARQ, Manning Passing Academy and the Bakas Combine. His college profile. He works out once a week during the summer with his QB coach Bill Schmitz and is very dedicated to making the next step in his football career.

Matyk won’t be leaving his academics behind though. He currently has over a 4.0 GPA and likely pursuing a career in medicine.

“Academics are really important because the amount of people that make it to the NFL is slim to none,” he said. “You gotta think past that. The ultimate goal is to  make it there, but you have to think how are you going to take care of things in the future too.”

Matyk currently is wide open in his recruiting process. He doesn’t have any school higher than another. He doesn’t have a praticular system, or conference, higher than another.

“Right now its wide open,” Andrew’s father said.  “His mom and I prefer he goes to a smaller private school, but his head is into a bigger school right now so its really wide open. He loves it [football]. He trains 6-7 days a week: He eats, sleeps, drinks, thinks football. Hes very buckled down. Very focused.”

The Osceola QB plans to visit Florida Atlantic University once the season ends, but for now is focused on taking the Warriors to the next level.

“We beat Seminole which is a big plus, its a crosstown rivalry,” Matyk said. “I want to try to get some more wins. We got a young team and we should be contenders next year.”
