More than a Brave, he’s a warrior: Lake Gibson’s Hunter Orem

This Class of 2016 prospect has been camping as a QB for what seems an eternity, and with good reason. Orem certainly has the tools to become a pretty good one, but his value to the team also transcends to the defensive side of the ball, or even the kicking game if needed. Last season, it was Casey Whitaker’s team to command and Orem found himself in the slot as well as taking snaps from the shotgun when called upon. He also put in work at the free safety position and was very much a part of the Braves’ 9-2 run that ended as district runners-up to Winter Haven. Orem has put on 13-pounds from Ignite in January until E7 in April to put him at 6-foot-2, 203-pounds and is tirelessly working on getting his accuracy to mesh with his tremendous footwork and deceptively fast 4.51 speed.

Orem could end up in a battle with another BCP camper, 2017’s Dalton Jenner who stands at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds already, but we think that won’t deter him from making whatever adjustments he needs to make in order to prepare himself to be the leader on offense for Lake Gibson. That’s why he is so valuable to this team because of his ability to play both sides of the ball effectively. Whatever position he plays, the Braves will need his stock to continue to rise with a new district and formidable non-district schedule. We shall find out more as Lake GIbson travels to Zephyrhills for their spring game on Friday, May 22nd.
