HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY RECRUITING RECRUITING FEATURES

Malik Tyson could be a name we hear often this year

Malik Tyson, Robinson
Malik Tyson, Robinson

If you are looking for a quarterback prospect that will rise on recruiting boards, look no further than Robinson’s Malik Tyson. A fingernail under 6-3 and right around 200 pounds. Good arm, increasing accuracy and excellent movement in the pocket will make scouts open their eyes to Tyson.

Though Malik Tyson calls South Tampa home, getting out of state will not be a problem. Tyson has family that reside in Illinois, Virginia, Alabama and Iowa. He is a big city kid. In a perfect world, Tyson would not be hiking, ice fishing or hunting. The big city activities are more of his “Thang.”

Oregon is Tyson’s Dream School. Maybe because of the pretty uniforms, the Nike connection or how successful the Ducks have been over the past few years. UCF, Miami, Oregon, FAU and FIU are 5 schools that Tyson hope will recruit him. All those schools will have some interest in the 6-2 1/2 dual threat quarterback. No wonder Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins QB is his favorite player. Now, we just Need RG3 to re-route his Redskins back to winning ways. Similar to the Robinson Knights.

In 2012, Robinson was 12-2 District Champions and Regional Champions in Mike Depue’s final season as the head coach for the Knights. 2013 and 2014, the Knights had back to back 4-6 seasons. New year, new district and more experience will hopefully push the Knights back to winning ways. Tyson will need to build on a solid junior season; 1,496 passing yards, 15 total touchdowns (2 Rushing) but 9 interceptions. He is focused on dropping his turnovers number and increasing his production. His ability to extend the play and buy more time behind the line of scrimmage is a big asset to his offense. The Knights will need Malik’s experience and leadership as they lose some playmaking ability on the perimeter to graduation.

Malik Tyson is expected to do some good things this season. If we are proved to be correct, his recruitment will increase through out the season.
