Jesuit makes it 16 Straight

Junior running back Malik Davis broke Jesuit’s single-game rushing mark (Mo Harris’ 289 yards in 1992) with 347 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns to help lead his Tigers to their 16 straight victory over the Tampa Catholic Crusaders, 35-20.

Jesuit led throughout this contest and ended the regular season undefeated, 10-0, while Tampa Catholic fell to 8-2.

Tigers’ junior quarterback Daniel Boon sneaked in for two touchdowns of his own.

Jesuit defense produced four turnovers and forced four 3-and-outs. Senior defensive back Mayson Atkinson had two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a tackle-for-loss, senior linebacker Parker Looney had two sacks, two tackle-for-losses, and a batted down ball, and senior defensive end Zack Quilty had a blocked punt and a tackle-for-loss.

Tampa Catholic’s junior quarterback Austin Sessums hit on 19-of-27 passes for 265 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions (one tipped). Senior wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers had seven receptions for 93 yards including a 43-yard touchdown catch. Junior running back Devan Barrett had 4 catches for 66 yards including a 59-yard touchdown catch and he added 40 yards on the ground.

Crusaders’ junior defensive back Bentlee Sanders returned an interception back 55 yards for a touchdown.

Next Friday is the first round of the playoffs and Jesuit will host Lakewood (6-4) and Tampa Catholic will host Winter Park’s Trinity Prep (8-2).
