Hillsborough, Pinellas and Hernando Cancel Games

Irma is becoming a headache even before she touches the mainland. Hillsborough County and Pinellas County have decided to cancel school for Thursday 9/7 and Friday 9/8. This also means all after school activities will be cancelled. No public school football games this week for those counties.

All of Florida is facing a threat more serious than at any time in recent memory. Our school buildings and our 25,000 employees need time to prepare their facilities and families for the possibly devastating effects of Hurricane Irma.

Because of this, Hillsborough County Public Schools will close both Thursday and Friday, September 7th and 8th. In addition, all after-school activities will be cancelled for Thursday and Friday. – Hillsborough County Public Schools Facebook Page

Hernando previously moved their games up to Thursday night but will now follow Hillsborough and Pinellas with cancellation of school and activities on both Thursday and Friday.

As of now, Polk, Pasco and Manatee Counties are staying on schedule to play their varsity football games on Thursday night.
