Florida State has won its last seven season openers and has not lost an opener to a non-conference opponent since 1989 (to Southern Miss). Alabama has not lost a season opener since 2001 (to UCLA). The Seminoles return 20 starters, including 11 on defense, from last season’s squad that finished 10-3 and closed the season with five straight wins, including a victory over Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl. Alabama has won at least 10 games each of the last nine seasons, including a 14-1 mark last season with the only loss coming to Clemson in last January’s CFP Championship Game.
