PINELLAS COUNTY RECRUITING

Film evaluation reveals Pinellas County potential prospects

Plowing through film this weekend, several players showed promise on film. Below are a few observations.

Jervon Newton, Clearwater Central Cath. Pinellas CB/ATH 2017 5-10 180 – This Newton has the skill set to play either offense or defense. Very explosive as a running back and good transition as a corner. Hard to tell which position he will be best suited for currently. Tough runner, good lateral movement and super acceleration in the open field. I’m going to stamp him as a running back for now.

Jerquan Newton, Clearwater Central Cath. Pinellas DE/OLB 2017 6-0 180 – Twin brother of the young man mentioned above. This Newton will fill out and be a terror as his high school career unfolds. He really chases the ball well from the backside. Wards off blocks, most impressive is how he gets to sideline. Fantastic pursuit.

Tyler McDonald, Clearwater Central Cath. Pinellas LB 2017 6-2 214 – Such a big time surprise. I absolutely love how this kid handles the inside run. Uses his size to step up and fill the hole. Very physical at the point of attack. Versus the outside run, he uses his hands, gets to sidelines, and is a “Boy Dog” when he makes the tackle.

Adam Samee, Clearwater Central Cath. Pinellas OT 2016 6-7 270 – The big man has a chance. Can’t coach height or length. Dude is 6-7 with long arms. Does a good job using his hands. Because he has such length, Samee is able to get separation and leverage.  Adam will continue to improve his overall strength which will impact is leverage.
