12400627_10153532813814024_2840644954024023185_nHe still has two seasons left over on Haines-Bayshore, and the Marauders are happy to have him as one of the biggest difference makers in the secondary in the county and possibly beyond prepares his squad for a run at a state championship in Class 3A. CCC’s Amari Burney holds offers from Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville and Miami–and that’s literally just the beginning for this young man who personifies what it means to talk softly and walk with and deliver a punishing attitude towards anyone on the football field directly in his path.

We now take a closer look at one of the most-exciting prospects in the defensive secondary, CCC’s Amari Burney.

WHAT WAS SAID:
“S – Armari Burney (Clearwater Central Catholic) – Class of 2018
He’s going to plastered on every single P-5’s recruiting board by the end of the 2016 season, and he’ll still have another season to go after that. He’s 6-feet-2 and 210-pounds and is naturally smooth in his motion whether he’s heading backwards or heading towards the receiver. Burney’s performance was even more impressive watching him go against IMG’s Tre’ McKitty essentially all day–and he mentioned that. “It was a great experience today going against some great competition–especially going against Tre’ McKitty. He really helped me work harder today.” said Burney.”

WHAT THE ‘EYE IN THE SKY’ SAID:
Burney was just so instinctive at the position and was a monster all day. He is much longer and faster than his 6-2/200+-pound frame suggests. He wanted to work against only THE best prospects on the field and that pretty much tells you all that’s needed to be told about the young man.

THE IMPACT:
Burney is actually listed by one of the recruiting sites as a wide receiver, but that contribution is merely icing on the cake since one of the many things that CCC doesn’t lack for is offensive firepower. It’s obviously the defensive side of things that showcases his insane talent.

Burney’s obviously a super-athletic player that can get it done having caught 20 receptions for 404 yards and seven touchdowns during the season, but make no mistake about it–this young man is going to be a difference maker in the secondary at the next-level because you cannot take your eyes off his film when watching him play the safety position. His 91 tackles, two interceptions, two caused fumbles and five fumble recoveries as a sophomore are just the indication that he’s about to go off in 2016 now that he’s developed even further.
