Dawson ready to be unleashed at Ignite

Sawyer Dawson, Plant City

Sawyer Dawson, Plant City 2015 outside linebacker had 49 solo tackles, 87 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 12 TFLS and 12 pass defended. He was a 2013 ALL BCP 2nd Team Defense selection helping lead his Raiders to the post season.

After a breakout season in 2013, Dawson will surely hit the recruiting map. Standing at 6-2/200 lbs, Dawson is athletic, fast, physical and smart. What’s his focus heading into the off-season? “This off-season I’m focused on getting stronger and gaining more weight. I am also working on my footwork to improve my speed.

“I think I am on track to be one of the top prospects of the 2015 class. I think I rank as one of the top area OLBs, and will continue to work to be the top prospect. I have been selected to the 2013 ALL BCP 2nd Team Defense, All-Western Conference Fed. Div. 1st team and Honorable mentions in the Tribune and Tampa Bay Times. This motivates me to do even better next season” says Dawson.

Dawson is bringing his Talents to the BHSN/BCP Ignite Showcase this Sunday in attempt to win the position MVP, increase his prospect rating and get invited to BHSN EXECUTIVES. Dawson is excited to compete this weekend and knows the opportunity ahead, “My purpose [for competing in Ignite] is to see how I compare to area athletes and to show my skills and athleticism to you [BCP] and get my name out there even more.”

Currently the 2015 prospect has been receiving mail and emails from some big schools such as Florida State, Auburn, Missouri, Indiana, Arizona, USF but has the most interest from Georgia Southern, Georgia State and Mercer University.

Observations on Sawyer Dawson versus Tampa Bay Tech this past season: Sawyer Dawson OLB – Dawson owned the third quarter. During one series, he made 3 straight defensive plays in a row. The PA announcer was calling his name before he even made the tackle (haha). Returned a fumble for a score to pull plant City within 3 points. Dawson looks great in pads and could be a good sleeper prospect next season as he is only a junior.
