Orlando, FL – Victory Christian entered the 2A state championship game looking for redemption from last year’s title game loss. To say “They got it” would be an understatement. The Storm rained on Indian Rocks undefeated season with a 54-16 win in impressive fashion. Below are bullet points from the game.

  • The biggest concern coming into the game was Indian Rocks secondary coverage. It became an issue today. Victory Christian passed for 384 yards and 6 passing TDs. Victory Christian has 3 receivers with over 100 yard receiving: Alvin Harper Jr, 8 catches, 124 yards, 1 TD; E’Andre Smith, 7 catches, 143 yards,  2 TDs and Brice Ford, 7 catches, 110 yards 3 TDs. IRC missed interceptions, missed tackles and gave up big plays in the secondary from quarter 2 on!
  • Caleb Lewis, Victory Christian QB was a beast tonight. Official stats: tonight 23/28, 1 INT for 384 yards and  6 passing TDs. Lewis was on the money! Making big throw after big throw and controlling the flow of the contest. You could tell he was going to have a big game when he rolled right, flushed to the Golden Eagle sideline, threw back slightly to his left (left-handed) and completed a 16 yard TD pass to Brice Ford to end the first half. Talk about a “Wow” play.
  • Indian Rocks had no answer once Victory shut down their run! Limited to 164 total yards, 147 on of that was on the ground. Jacquan Fuller ended with 58 yards, Damian King with 56 yards and Zeke McGaughy had 49 yards of his own, entered the game with 1084 rush yards.
  • Brice Ford came out of no where. Had a game for his career. Difference maker for Victory Christian. Scored 3 TDs and 1 Interception. Had a huge day. His ability to get around the football and then turn possessions into points provide the Storm a comfort level needed throughout the game.
  • Lack of QB pressure drastically hampered IRC. Caleb Lewis had 3-5 seconds the majority of the night to find receivers and make accurate passes. The defensive secondary struggled because of lack for pressure from the front 7. Mixture of the quick passes to keep the Dline from getting up field and the deep passes made it tough all game for the Golden Eagles.
  • Impacts plays killed Indian Rocks. Offensively, Victory hit plays for 20 of more yards, 6 different times in the game. Harper had catches for 37 yards and 24 yards, Smith reeled in a 32 yard reception and Brice Ford caught passes for 28 and 37 yards.
