ORLANDO, Fla. (CureBowl.com) – As a part of the AutoNation Cure Bowl Press Conference, executive director Alan Gooch awarded Arkansas State defensive lineman Jake Swalley and UCF offensive lineman Aaron Evans with Community Service Soldier Medallions. Both soldiers were recognized at the AutoNation Cure Bowl Press Conference at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort Convention Center.

The recipients of the medals led their squads through their activities in the community. These individuals’ values stand in line with the AutoNation Cure Bowl’s cause – bringing teams together to find a cure for cancer.

Aaron Evans, a redshirt junior on the Knights’ offensive line, has been on three mission trips to Jamaica. The Seffner, Fla., native worked at schools for the deaf on trips in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

This year, Evans has taken part in Clean the World along with an UCF initiative to feed Orlando’s homeless in February and June. He also recently took part in the UCF Knight of Giving, taking children in need on a holiday shopping trip.

Arkansas State senior defensive lineman Jake Swalley is one of the semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which is awarded annual for academics, football performance and strong leadership and citizenship.

The Overland Park, Kan., native completed his interdisciplinary studies degree this semester and has been involved in a number of community service projects. He has aided the community in Autism Walks, Special Olympics and high school initiatives.
