Seffner, FL – This contest started off like a heavyweight 12 round boxing match with both teams throwing big body shots. Brandon came in the heavy underdog against the Mighty Hawks. They didn’t play that way early.

Brandon started the scoring with Ryan Sass catching a short slant across the middle of the Armwood defense and scampered for a 55 yard TD reception with 4:15 remaining in the first quarter (7-0)

Armwood would struggle offensively as Brandon made every possession tough on the Hawks. Big Blue didn’t get into the end zone until the 9:50 mark in the second quarter when Brian Snead’s short TD run closed the gap. The Hawks would miss the extra point: Brandon 7 Armwood 6. The remainder of the second half was pretty slow. Both teams defending extremely well waiting on the other to make that critical mistake.

The second half is where all the fireworks started and it was the Armwood defense that lit the fuse. Armwood DE Clint Polk returned a force fumble to the house for Armwood (3Q 7:57 Armwood 13 Brandon 7). Then Eric Collins took a swing pass 8 yards for another Armwood TD (Armwood 20 Brandon 7) and before the third quarter could conclude Clint Polk stole a pass from Brandon (INT) and returned it deep in Brandon territory setting up a Darrian McNeal 7 yard TD run (3Q :06 Armwood 27 Brandon 7).

Brian Snead finished off Armwood’s second half scoring fiesta when he went 60 yards up the gut for another Hawk second half TD (4Q 6:35 Armwood 34 Brandon 7). Brandon would score late making the final Armwood 34 Brandon 14.

Brandon finished 9-3 this season. 2 losses the Armwood and 1 to Plant City who will play Braden River this coming Friday. The Hawks continue their undefeated season hosting Gainesville Friday.
