RECRUITING

Anticipating defensive performances by Ignite defenders

BHSN Ignite Elite Showcase powered by Big County Preps is just weeks away and there are a number of defensive performances that will be highly anticipated. We listed just a few below.

Trey Fullwood, Sickles CB 2016 – In the defensive secondary, it comes down to more than just speed.  More importantly it’s technique and cover skills.  We have seen Fullwood work moving forward as a receiver. But we have not observed him moving backwards, transitioning forward and covering a receiver in press or loose man. We like Fullwood’s athleticism. Hopefully we get what we want on January 11th.

Donte’ Glover, Blake CB 2016 – Throughout the season, Glover has been a good zone corner. Very active in run support, enjoying contact and really productive in cover 2. Ignite is a different deal. We are really going to pay attention to how Glover works in  position drills and 1 on 1s will be telling. Feet and hips tell the untold story!

Deedrick Daniels, Chamberlain S 2016 – Daniels could be a hidden gem waiting to be grabbed and polished. “The Eye Test” will be the initiation. We want to see his body type, shoulders and legs. Then we want to see him run. His film is impressive. The way he catches the ball is as good as any receiver around.  Now he will be on the big stage along side the best receivers around. Time to show out!

Jarrod Kelley, Winter Haven S 2016 – Kelley thrives in the padded game. A true safety, screaming down the alley in run support and making solid tackles. The value of a safety increases when he is able to cover in man to man.  We have seen him do this plenty. But what happens after a full year of playing deep zone coverage and little man to man coverage? I guess we shall see.

Jake Hansen, East Lake LB 2016 – Hansen is very active in pads versus the run. A really good nose for the ball and physical. But can pass drop, pass rush and cover ball catchers in man to man? That’s what drives the value of a linebacker up.  Hansen shows good footwork on film. Reads his keys well on film. Now it’s time to see how well he moves in space and how much ground he can cover.

KWANZI JACKSON, MANATEE DL 2016 – Jackson returns to Ignite for the second year in a row. This time around, stronger, faster, longer and hopefully more dominate.  All have been proven from his 2014 season film. A sack master and better run stopper. But at Ignite, we expect him to dominate in pass rush drills.  We expect him to show a few more pass rush moves and a tremendous “take off” at the line of scrimmage.
