Anthony Davis, 2014, formally of West Port, now at Chamberlain, won top defensive honors taking home over all defensive MVP at the 2012 Ignite Elite Showcase and a trip to the US Army Combine. His size and excellent speed was on display during the 1 on 1′s and he showed excellent footwork during individual drills.

This was our first look at the 2014 LB from Ocala. Amongst 250 kids who participated at the BHSN/BCP Ignite Elite Showcase, Davis stood out in a big way. His physique was one to marvel over. His athleticism was that of a safety and not a 215lb LB.

But it may be rising sophomore linebacker Anthony Davis who could forever change the perception of West Port football.

“If Anthony Davis keeps developing, he’ll be the No. 1 linebacker in the nation,” Hearn said. “Not the state, but probably the nation when it’s done. He has 10 offers right now. As a freshman, that’s unheard of.” ~ West Port head football coach, Ryan Hearn – http://www.ocala.com/article/20110618/SPORTS/110619709?p=2&tc=pg

Before moving to Ocala, Davis lived in Tampa prior to the death of his mother at 15 years old. “Lost my mother when I was 15. I Don’t know father. That sucks!” Those misfortunes have not slowed Davis. This summer he moved back to Tampa and enrolled at Chamberlain high school. “It’s been good. I’m glad I came back down here.” He spoke highly of head football coach, Dedrick Mayo, encouraged by the work his team has put in and excited for the new season.

Davis has interest from USF, Miami, Alabama, Florida and Oregon to name a few. He says they love his size. “I have good speed for a line backer. I can cover.” Davis also admits he has plenty of room for improvement.  “I can improve on everything.”

Growing up a Florida State and Miami fan, Davis said he is not afraid to leave the state of Florida to play collge football. But, “I want to stay in Florida. I’d rather stay in Florida. I just like Florida football.”

Davis blasted his way into the 2012 position ranking as the #3 ILB in the BCP coverage area. Our evaluations are based on film review, Ignite Showcase and E7 Training Camp performance, combines, 7 on 7 competitions and practice observations.

Davis is expected to be a game changer for the Chiefs in addition to Ronnie Scott and Xavier Johnson.  Marcus Stewart will be counted on at a TE, FB and LB, while Jermaine Gilyard will be the lock-down corner. The Chiefs have some talent and according to Anthony Davis, “Watch out!”

Davis also gave us a heads up. James Martin, 2014 slot will surprise fans this year…Will make plays!
