“All I wanna do is be at the top of the food chain” – Kee Whetzel

Our first introduction to Countryside 2016 athlete Kee Whetzel was back in October 2014. Then he was primarily an edge rusher causing chaos in the offensive backfield for the East Lake Eagles.

As we come to find out, he is much more than a defensive problem. He is able to take snaps at QB, has played Wide receiver, Defensive end, Outside linebacker, Free safety, and we have also seen film of him at Halfback. Last season 5 TDs, 48 Rush attempts for 341 yards, 6 Receptions, 103 yards, 11.5 sacks and 9 TFLs. Side note: He also is a member of the track and field team.

At the current time, Kee is still a rising name. Hasn’t popped yet. But many are taking notice and it will not take long before the junior 6-4 athlete’s recruitment takes off like a 747. He tell us his “Dream School” is TCU. Odd for a Florida kid. But not a bad pick, team went 12-1 this past season and has been a consistent winning program for the last decade. Hard for a Florida kid not to like a Florida school. FSU is on his short list of schools he would like to be recruited by. Clemson makes the cut especially noticing how they have been killing the area with recruiting. Plucking some of the best prospers from the area the last 2 years. TCU, Oregon and LSU round off the top 5. USF and Indiana are showing the heaviest interest thus far and Whetzel claims an oral offer from Hoosiers.

Whetzel says size, speed, field awareness and strong hands are his strengths and at the same time he is working to improve is physique, gain muscle mass, sharpen his route running and boost his speed.

“I’ma Lion!” The animal Whetzel most identifies with. He wants to eat the competition and claim his territory. At the same time, be the best teammate. “All I wanna do is be at the top of the food chain” – Kee Whetzel, Countryside 2016 ATH
