Hillsborough County GUY TOPH winners

Believed to be the oldest continuous high school sports award in the country and often described as Hillsborough County’s equivalent to college football’s Heisman Trophy, the Guy Toph Award has been presented to senior football players who excel on the field and in the classroom.

1939 – Guy Tompkins, Hillsborough
FB/LB/K/P 6’1″ 195 2 times All Big Ten Conference, Was also All City and All State. Led team in Rushing yards, Receiving yards, Scoring, And Tackles leading coach Spurgeon Cherry’s Terriers to an 8-2 record. Signed a football scholarship to the University of Tennessee.

1940 – John Smit, Plant
OL/DL 5’10” 170 1st team All City, three year letterman and Team captain

1941 – Ned Baldwin, Plant
RB/QB/K 5’9′ 150 1st All Big Ten Conference, 1st All City, 1st All State also made HM All State his Jr year. A 2 year starter and team Captain for Coach Jimmy Hughes. Joined the Military and became a Fighter Pilot.

1942 – Gaspar Vaccaro, Hillsborough
FB/LB 5’10” 180 was All City, 1st Team All Big Ten Conference, Honorable Mention All Southern and 1st Team All State for Crockett Farnell’s first Hillsborough Terrier team. He also lettered in track. He signed a football scholarship with University of Florida. He was selected by the Steelers in the 1950 NFL draft.

1943 – Bob Belle, Plant
RB/LB/P 5’10” 180 a 3 year starter for the Panthers. He was twice named All State, All City and All Big 10. He was team captain for Plant’s 9-0-1 Big Ten Conference Championship squad. The former class president graduated early and joined the army during world war II.

1944 – Ray Jackson, Hillsborough
RB 5’10” 165 2 time 1st team All City. 1st team All State as a Sr. Led Coach Crockett Farnell’s Terriers to a perfect 11-0 season his Sr. year.

1945 – Hal Griffin, Hillsborough
RB/DB/KR/K 5’9″ 165  All-City, All-Big Ten Conference, All-State, All-Southern. Rated 1945’s top player in Florida  Led Region in Scoring with 121 points as he led the Terriers to a 10-0 season his senior year. He later became the Head Coach @ Hillsborough High & compiled a 36-9-6 record between 1956-1960. Signed a scholarship with the Florida Gators.

1946 – Cecile Perrette, Hillsborough
RB/K 5’11” 195  All State, All Southern, All City, All Big Ten Conference. Led Coach Crockett Farnell’s Terriers in Rushing and Scoring. Signed a Scholarship to the University of Clemson. Finished his College career with the University of Tampa Spartans.

1947 – Bob Payne, Jefferson
OL/DL 5’4″ 144 was a 2 time 1st team All City selection and 1st team All State as a Sr. He was a team Captain for Coach Dick Spoto’s 7-3 Dragons.

1948 – Pete Milan, Plant
OL/DL 5’8″ 175 1st team All State, 2x All City, All Big Ten Conference & Honorable Mention All Southern. A team captain For Coach Jimmy Hughes, He was a 3 year starter for the Panthers and signed a scholarship with the University of Florida.

1949 – Rick Casares, Jefferson
RB 6’2″ 226 All City, All Conference, All State, All Southern,High School All-American. 1 of only 5 players in history recruiting analysts believe could have gone from HS to the Pro’s. Lettered in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track all 3 years of high school. Led the Big ten conference in scoring in Basketball and was a member of the Honor Society at Jefferson. Signed a football Scholarship to UF where he Was 2nd team All American as a Jr before being drafted in the military. Was a 2nd round pick by the Bears & was their career rushing leader till Walter Payton in the 80′s. 5x Pro Bowler.

1950 – George Carnes, Plant
RB/DB 5’9 170 All City, All Conference, HM All State, HM All Southern, HM on the Wiseman of America National High School Squad. A rare 3 year starter on both offense and defense, He was a team Captain for Coach Frank Clinton’s Panthers. Signed a football Scholarship with Florida State University.

1951 – Charles Mixon, Hillsborough
QB 5’11” 150 He was a team captain who was 1st team All City his Sr. year. He lettered in football,baseball and track. He was state runner-up in the mile his Sr. year. Signed a track scholarship with Florida State University.

1952 – Billy Shields, Plant
RB 5’11” 183 was All City, All Big Ten Conference and 1st Team All State his Sr. year. 1st team All City as a Jr. Selected to play in the North South All Star Classic. He Led Coach Frank Lorenzo’s 5-5 Panthers in scoring with 17 TDs. Was a Conference Sprint champion who also lettered in Baseball. He signed a football scholarship to the University of Florida and finished his career with the University of Tampa Spartans.

1953 – Charlie Gill, Plant
OL/DL 6’0″ 195 An All-City, All Big Ten Conference, 1st team All-State and HM All-Southern performer. He Anchored both lines for Coach Frank Lorenzo’s 6-3-1 Panthers. Signed a football Scholarship with the Florida Gators.

1954 – Jimmy Dunn, Hillsborough
QB 5’8″ 145 All City, All Conference, All State, All Southern. Was MVP for the South in the Florida High School All Star game. Also lettered in Basketball. Signed a football scholarship with the University of Florida.

1955 – Wayne Williamson, Jefferson
QB 6’0″ 170 A 1st team All City, 1st Team All Western Conference, 2nd team All State performer, he was selected to play in the prestigious North/South All Star game. He was also a stand out basketball player at Jefferson high school. Later became Head Coach at Brandon high and at Parsons College. He was a long time Hillsborough County athletic director and is a member of the Jefferson High Hall of Fame. He signed a football scholarship with the Florida Gators.

1956 – Bill Encinosa, Plant
RB/K 6’0″ 175 1st team All City, 1st team All State, 2x 1st team All Western Conference. Honorable Mention All State as a Jr. Was second in the county in scoring his Jr. & Sr. years. Was All Western Conference in Basketball as a Jr. Signed a football scholarship with the University of Tennessee.

1957 – Bob McKenzie, Plant
QB 5’11” 175 All City, All Conference, All State, All Southern. He was vice President of the Sr class at Plant, a member of the National Honor Society and FHSAA Scholar Athlete. Was a starting QB in the North/South All Star game. A team Captain for Coach Frank Lorenzo’s Panthers. He led the squad to the Shrine Bowl and an 8-3 record. He signed a Football Scholarship with Georgia Tech.

1958 – Mark Whitehead, Plant
RB 5’11” 170 All City, 1st team All Western Conference 1st team All State. Led the Conference in scoring with 72 points. Leading Coach Frank Lorenzo’s Panthers to a 10-0 season. Signed a football scholarship to the University of Florida.

1959 – John Dent, Chamberlain
OL/LB 6’2″ 210. 1st team All-City, 1st team All-Western Conference, 1st team All-Tampa Bay Football Conference, 1st team All-State. A two way starter who was the Chiefs leading tackler he helped lead Chamberlain & Coach John Adcock to their 1st Western Conference title. An honor student he signed a football scholarship with the University of Florida.

1960 – Mac Farrington, Hillsborough
RB/K/P 5’10 175″ 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All City, Honorable Mention All State. Helped lead Coach Hal Griffin’s Terriers to a 10-0 regular season as a SR.. Led team with 11 TDs and was 2nd in the Conference in scoring with 74 Points. Signed a Scholarship with Florida State University.

1961 – John Whatley, Chamberlain
OL 6′ 225″ 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All city. 1st All State, 1st All Southern. Helped lead the Chiefs to an 11-0 record and Mythical State Title. Had a 3.89 GPA and earned a Scholarship to the University of Florida.

1962 – Vernon Korhn, Plant
QB/DB 5’11” 170 2x 1st team All City, 2x 1st team All Western Conference, HM All State as a JR, 2nd team All State as a SR. . A 3 year letterman threw for 1,172 yards with 11 TDs and ran for 6 TDs during his SR. year. Also had 20 Ints in two seasons as a DB.. Named to the Annual North/South All Star game. Signed with Florida State.

1963 – Randy Smith, Robinson
QB 6’0″ 180.  1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All City , HM All State. Played in the North South All Star game. A 3 year letterman led team to state finals. Threw for over 1400 yards with 21 TDs. Ran for 7 more  scores. Also lettered in Basketball & Baseball. Later became the knights Head coach leading them to a Regional title in 1977. Signed with the University of Georgia.

1964 – Larry Smith, Robinson
RB 6’3″ 215 2x All City, 2x All Western Conference, 2x All State, 2x All Southern, State Player of the year, Parade All American. Was selected a member of the FHSAA All Century  team.  Twice led the Region in scoring. He scored 48 career TDs & threw 2 more. Led Coach Holland Aplins Knights to the state finals his JR. year. Signed a scholarship to the University of Florida. Was a 1st round NFL draft pick #8 overall. Is a member of the Tampa Sports & Florida Gators Hall of Fame.

1965 – Mark Ely, Plant
RB/DB 5’10” 160 1st team All City, 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All State. Led the Conference in scoring with 23 Touchdowns and 138 points in guiding the Panthers to there first District title of the Playoff era. Signed with the University of Florida.

1966 – Ralph Tate, King
QB 5’9″ 185 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All City, 1st team All Regional. Threw for 13 Touchdowns and ran for 19 more as he led the Lions to their first post season appearance in school history (Meninak Bowl). Signed with the University of Tampa.

1967 – John Reaves, Robinson
QB 6’3″ 195  1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All Regional, 1st team All Southern, 1st team All State, 1st team All American. State player of the year. Threw for over 2300 yards with 22 TDs, ran for 11 more TDs, kicked 42 extra points and averaged 37 yards per punt. A 3 year starter his teams went 25-7-1 including a trip to the final 4 his SR year. Led Conference in hitting for the Knights baseball team & scored a then school record 52 points in a Basketball game v Jefferson. Went on to the University of Florida & was picked in the 1st round of the NFL draft.

1968 – Danny Beltram, Hillsborough
DB/RB 5’8″ 160 3rd team All-State, 1st team All Western Conference DB, 1st team All County RB. Two way player who never left the field. Ran for 900 yards with 12 TDs. Led Hillsborough & Coach Billy Turner to their 1st District Championship with a 10-0 Regular Season.

1969 – Gene Killian, Brandon
OL/LB  6’4″ 235 1st Team All-State,1st Team All-Regional, 1st Team All-County, 1st Team All-Western Conference. Was the O-line leader of the 1969 State Runner-Ups. Led a Defense that only allowed 56 points in 13 games & had 8 shut outs. Won the state shot put title with a throw of 59’7 3/4″. Signed a football scholarship with Miami. He picked by the Cowboys in the 1974 NFL draft.

1970 – Steve Walker, Robinson
LB 6’3″ 195 1st Team All-County. 1st Team All-Western Conference, 2nd Team All-State. Winner of the 1970 Tampa Tribune Unheralded Hero Award. Led team with 73 tackles 7 interceptions & 3 fumble recoveries. Led team  to a 15-5-1 record as a Varsity Knight. Also lettered in Basketball. Signed with the University of Florida.

1971 – Alfred Pyles, Leto
RB 5’7″ 160  1st Team All Western Conference, 1st team All County, 2nd team All Regional. A leader on and off the field. He helped Leto Improve from 0-10 in 1970 to 5-3-1 in 1971. He led his team in rushing with over 800 yards and TDs with 13. He was 2nd in the conference in scoring his senior year. Signed with Florida A&M University.

1972 – Mike Long, Robinson
RB 5’10” 180  1st team All-Western Conference, 1st team All-County, 1st team All-Regional. Led Robinson in rushing with 855 yards averaging 6.7 yards per carry & 9 TDs. Helped lead Coach Tom Mahins Knights to an 8-2 mark as a Senior after helping Robinson to the state 4A Finals his Junior year. Signed with Delta State.

1973 – Dennis Lopez, Jefferson
RB 6’0″ 185 A 2nd team All Western Conference performer He led the Dragons in rushing and TDs. A team Captain, he was a leader on the field and in the classroom for Coach Clarence White’s squad. He also lettered in baseball at Jefferson.

1974 – Michael Bolden, Leto
RB 6’2″ 185, 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All County, 1st team All Regional, 3rd team All State. Led County in rushing with 1076 yards as a SR. Reportedly never missed a practice in 3 years. Brother Nathaniel Bolden was a 1st team All State player for Blake in 1970. Also lettered in Basketball. Signed a scholarship with the University of Tampa,Then signed with South Carolina when U of Tampa discontinued football.

1975 – Scott Peek, Jesuit
DB/RB 6’1″ 175 1st team All County, 1st team All Regional, 2nd team All State. 1st Guy Toph winner from a private school. A team Captain who excelled on both sides of the ball. Led the Tigers in rushing with 560 yards with 10 TDs and Interceptions with 9 as team finished 11-1. Also lettered in track. Signed a football scholarship with the University of Florida.

1976 – Alan Gray, Plant
QB 6’2″ 185 1st team All County, 1st team All Western Conference, 2nd team All State. An Expert of Coach Roland Acosta’s veer offense he led the Panthers to the 1976 Regional Championship. He was selected to play in the North/South all star game where he started at QB. Signed an athletic scholarship with the University of Alabama.

1977 – Edmund Nelson, King
LB/TE 6’3″ 225 was 1st team All County, 1st team All Western Conference. Was a three year starter For Coach Jerry Durnin. Helped lead team to an 8-2 record his senior year. Brother of former Jefferson/Plant Coach Darlee Nelson. He was an Honor student who was President of his Sr class. He played 7 seasons as a DL in the NFL after playing his college ball at the University of Auburn. At Auburn he won the University’s Cliff Hare Award for Scholar and athletics. Chosen to play in the Senior Bowl and the Blue/Gray game where he was Defensive MVP.

1978 – Donald E. White, Chamberlain
UTL player  5’11” 170  1st team All-Western Conference and 1st team All-County. Played WR, QB, DB, RB, KR, PR, & Holder. Coach Jim Vining reported that he played 900 of a possible 1100 plays on the season. Led team in Passing, Rushing & Tackles.  Signed a scholarship with Carson Newman.

1979 – Doug Shields, Plant
QB 5’10” 170. 1st team All-Western Conference, 1st team All-County, Honorable Mention All-State. Threw for 627 yards with 5 TDs in a run first Offense. Led team to State Final 4. Played first 2 years at Robinson where he was 2nd team All-County & also led them to the Final 4 in 1977. His teams were 28-7 during his 3 year career. Took a baseball scholarship to the University of Miami.

1980 – Pat O’Brien, Hillsborough
QB  6’3″ 182  1st team All County,  Honorable Mention All-State. Won the Golden Helmet as a player & a coach (King ’92).  Led county with 1,377 passing yards with 11 TDs. Guided the Terriers to an 8-3 record & an appearance in the 1980 Suncoast Bowl.  Signed an athletic scholarship to Sam Houston St.

1981 – Al Lopez III, Jesuit
QB  5’11” 170. 1st Team All-County, Honorable Mention All-State, Golden Helmet winner. The grandson of Tampa born Hall of Fame baseball player Al Lopez Sr. He led the 7-3 Tigers with 1488 yards passing with 15 TDs.

1982 – Terry Mallory, Chamberlain
QB 6’0″ 190 a 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All Hillsborough County and 2nd team All State performer, He Led the Chiefs to their first District title in school history. He threw for 1079 yards and 9 TDs his SR season. Signed a football scholarship with Valdosta State.

1983 – Joey Nicoletto, Chamberlain
LB 6’4″ 217 Was selected 1st Team All-Western Conference, 1st Team All County, and 1st Team All State. Was chosen for the North/South All Star game and was awarded the Hillsborough county Golden Helmet. Signed a football scholarship to the University of Florida. At UF he was a member of the SEC All Academic team.

1984 – Richard Renninger, Robinson
DL 6’3″ 235lbs 1st  All-Western Conference, 1st All County, 3rd All State. A 3 year starter who led the Knights with 11 sacks his senior year. An outstanding baseball player and honor student with a 4.12 GPA.  He fielded offers  from Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Kentucky among others before committing to play both Baseball & Football at Harvard.

1985 – Kirk Kirkpatrick, Brandon
TE/LB 6’3″ 225 1st All County, 1st All Conference, 1st All State, HM USA Today All American. Named to the Florida-Georgia All Star Game. Had 33 Catches for 515 yards with 4 TDs & Led his team in tackles, recovered 9 fumbles and intercepted 2 passes in leading the Eagles to the District Championship and a birth in the state final 4. Signed a scholarship to the University of Florida.

1986 – Trevor Weeks, Armwood
DB 5’11” 195  1st All County, 1st All Suncoast,1st All Western Conference, Golden Helmet, Guy Toph. A lockdown DB who had an amazing 22 INT’s in 30 games.Also a standout in Baseball. Signed a football scholarship with the Miami Hurricanes before signing a minor league baseball contract with the Cincinnati Reds.

1987 – Terry Jordan, Gaither
QB 6’1″ 175 1st team All Suncoast,1st team All Conference,1st team All County,3rd team All State. The Nephew of 70’s Dallas Cowboy star LB Lee Roy Jordan. The 3 year starter led Gaither to the first District Title in school history in 1985 and to the Meninak Bowl in 1987. As a senior he led the Suncoast area in passing yards with 1,440 along with 12 TDs. He finished his prep career with 3,079 yards and 19 TDs. An honor student he signed a football scholarship to North Carolina State.

1988 – Shane Law, Chamberlain
DB 6’0″ 180 1st All Western Conference, 1st All-County, 1st All-Suncoast. Was HM All-County as a junior and lead his team to a District Title. As a senior, he had 7 ints., 4 blocked kicks, 108 tackles with a 3.3 GPA for the 7-3 Chiefs. Signed with University of Central Florida.

1989 – Kirby DarDar, Jefferson
RB 6’0″ 185 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All County, 1st team All Suncoast, 1989 Golden Helmet winner. Led Coach Darlee Nelsons Dragons In rushing (1,144) & TDs (14). An honor student with a 3.4 GPA he signed a scholarship to Syracuse University.

1990 – Gary Moore, East Bay
QB/P 6’0″ 180 All Western Conference, All County, All Suncoast, Golden Helmet winner.Threw for 1466 yds & 11 Tds as a Jr. & 1593 yds with 11 Tds as a Sr. as team improved from 5-5 in 1989 to 7-3 in 1990. An Honor student with a 4.1 GPA he signed a scholarship with Brown University.

1991 – Brian Adcock, Chamberlain
OL 6’4″ 244 2x 1st team All Conference, 2x 1st team All County, 2x 1st team All Suncoast, 2nd team All State. Grandson of Chamberlains first Head Coach John Adcock. A 3 year starter for the Chiefs he fielded offers from Florida State, Florida, and Clemson before following his grandfather and fathers footsteps by signing a scholarship to Auburn.

1992 – Brett Zinober, Berkeley Prep
QB/DB 5’10” 160 Honorable Mention All-State, Named Honorable Mention All-County By the Tampa Tribune. Threw for 1018 Yards & 12 TDs also ran for 3 TDs. An Honor Student with a 3.75 GPA, he was named a Scholar athlete by the Tampa chapter of the National Football foundation. He also lettered in wrestling and Track. He Led his team to 15 wins in 19 Starts at QB. Also started as a DB.

1993 – Clif Dell, King
WR 5’11” 185  1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All County, 1st team All Suncoast, 1st team All State. Led State in receiving SR. Year with 70 catches for 1032 yards….Signed an athletic scholarship to Florida State University before transferring to USF. Played with The Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League.

1994 – Keith Newman, Jefferson
LB/TE 6’3″ 210 was a Super Prep All American, 1st All County, 1st All Suncoast, 1st All Conference 2nd All State as a SR. Was HM All State as a JR. Led the Dragons to 2 playoff appearances and a Bowl game in his 3 year career. Played in the North/South Shrine All Star Game and won the county scholar athlete award. Signed a scholarship with North Carolina and played 8 years in the NFL.

1995 – Derrick Edmonds, Hillsborough
RB 5’9″ 180 1st team All Conference, 1stteam All County in both the Tampa Tribune and the St.Pete Times, 1st team All Suncoast, 2nd team All State. Ran for 1554 yards with 22 TDs in leading Earl Garcia jr’s Terriers to a 10-0 regular season. Was clocked with 4.4 speed and had a 3.3 GPA. Signed a football Scholarship with the university of Tennessee.

1996 – Kenny Kelly, Tampa Catholic
QB 6’3″ 190  Parade All-American. Gatorade Player of the Year,  Guy Toph & Golden Helmet Winner. 2x 1st team All-State, HM All-State as a Soph. 3x All-County 1st team 2x All-Suncoast 1st team. HM All-Suncoast as a Soph. Threw for 7,262 yards and 77 TDs in his TC career. Led Crusaders to 3 playoff trips. Also All-State in Basketball. Helped lead his basketball squad to the state title as a Soph. Was a Standout in Baseball and was drafted and played pro Baseball. He also was a standout in Track in the Long jump,triple jump & 4×100 relay. Earned a scholarship to play QB at the University of Miami.

1997 – Mike Pearson, Armwood
OL 6’7″ 280 A 1st team All State performer, He Blocked at 93 percent and had 36 pancakes in 10 games. Did not allow a sack in two years.  He was a three-year letterman at the University of Florida, where he received school’s offensive leadership award in 2001 and was two-time Southeastern Conference All-Academic selection. Pearson played for the Gators in 33 games with 31 starts, including two bowl games.He was a 2nd round NFL Draft pick.

1998 – Gary Godsey, Jesuit
QB 6’8″ 250 A versatile performer who played DE,TE,C,LS, & QB during his time at Jesuit. A team Captain For coach Ciao he threw for 1,260 yards with 18 TDs his Sr. year. Helped lead Jesuit to 3 consecutive District Titles. Was Honorable Mention All County, Honorable Mention All Suncoast, 3rd team All State. He was named Scholar athlete by the Tampa chapter of the National Football Foundation. He was named All State in Basketball and was a District Champion in track (Discus). Signed an athletic scholarship to the University of Notre Dame.

1999 – Fred Reid, King
RB 5’10” 180 Was named 1st team All Conference, 1st team All County by both the Tampa Tribune and the St.Pete Times, also 1st team All Suncoast. Named offensive player of the year on both the Times all County team and the All Suncoast team. He was 1st team All State as well. Was offensive MVP of the Hillsborough/Polk All Star game and was named to the Florida Georgia All Star game. Won the Golden Helmet Award. Rushed for 2,083 yards with 14 TDs as a Sr. Played 5 years in the CFL. Signed a football scholarship to Mississippi State.

2000 – Lydell Ross, Gaither
RB 6’1″ 215 Super Prep All American, 2x 1st All Suncoast, 2x 1st All County, 2x 1st All Conference, 2x 1st All State. Led Gaither to back to back playoff appearances. Set regular season rushing record with 2,196 yards and the single season record (including playoffs) 2,744. Finished his high school career with 5,166 yards and 49 TDs. Signed a football scholarship with Ohio State University.

2001 – Eddie Ivery, Chamberlain
RB 5’11” 175 Was HM All County his Sophomore & Jr. years. Made 1st team All County, 1st team All Conference, 2nd team All Suncoast & HM All State His Sr. year. The son of former Green Bay Packer RB Eddie Lee Ivery, he rushed for 1,430 yards & 14 TDs as a Sr. He helped lead the Chiefs to 3 playoff births including 1 District title and a state runner-up in 2001. Had a 4.16 GPA & signed a football scholarship to Georgia Tech.

2002 – Andre Caldwell, Jefferson
WR/QB/KR/PR 6’2″ 185 As a Sr. he was Named 1st All State, 1st All Suncoast, 1st All County, 1st All Conference. Was named the Suncoast, Tampa Tribune and St.Pete Times player of the year. Named to the Super Prep and Parade All American teams. Played in the Army All American Bowl. He passed for 1,282 yards with 16 TDs rushed for 1.289 & 18 TDs and returned 4 kicks for TDs as he led the Dragons to their first state finals appearance. He was Honorable mention All State, 1st All Conference, 1st All County & 1st All Suncoast as a Jr. As a Sophomore He was 2nd all Conference and Honorable Mention All County. He was all County in Baseball and a 2 time Regional Champion in track (100 meters). He signed a Scholarship with the University of Florida where he is the career leader in receptions with 185. 2003 – John Forbes, Alonso
RB 5’8″ 175 1st team All Conference, 1st team All County, 2nd team All Suncoast, 3rd team All-State. Led County in rushing with 1498 Regular season yards. Finished with 1558 yards and 22 TDs (including playoffs). Led Ravens to an 8-3 record and the first playoff appearance in school history. After fielding offers from Ohio, Air Force, FAU among others, Forbes who had a 3.94 GPA signed a scholarship with Navy.

2004 – Kalvin Bailey, Armwood
RB 5’11” 245 He was a rare 4 year starter for the Hawks. He was a 3x All Western Conference selection, 3x All County, 3x All Suncoast. Was named first team All State after his Jr & Sr seasons. He was Honorable Mention All State as a soph. He helped lead Armwood to 3 playoff appearances,2 District titles,2 Regional titles and 2 State titles. He was selected to play in the CaliFlorida Bowl. He finished his high school career with 4,841 yards rushing and 67 TDs.He also lettered in track 3 times(shot put). Signed a football scholarship to the University of Iowa.

2005 – Marcello Trigg, Robinson
QB 5’10” 175. A 4 year starter , Trigg led the Knights to two playoff appearances. He threw for a school and county record 81 TDs and over 7,000 yards. He was 3 times All Western Conference and a 3 times All County selection. Was 1st team All Suncoast as a Sr. Played in the Hillsborough County All Star game. he was also a 3 time All State player who was named the 2005 class 3A Player of the year. He signed a scholarship with Bucknell University.

2006 – Robert Marve, Plant
QB 6’2″ 200 He guided the Panthers to their first state title in school history. He threw for a state record 4,380 yards and 48 touchdowns. He ran for 832 yards and 8 touchdowns. He was named 1st team All Western Conference, 1st team All County (Tribune & Times) 1st team All Suncoast 1st team All State and Parade All American. He was named the states class 4A player of the year and Mr.Florida Football. He was selected to play in the FACA All Star game. As a Jr. he led Plant to their first District championship since 1999. Signed a football scholarship to the University of Miami before transferring to the University of Purdue.

2007 – Derek Winter, Plant
WR/DB 6’0″ 195 2x 1st team All Western Conference, 2x 1st team All County (Times & Tribune), 2x 1st team All Suncoast, 2x 1st team All State. Selected to play in the Florida North/South All Star game. Helped lead the Panthers to the 2006 State Championship. Caught a county record 90 passes for 1,245 yards and 20 TDS as a Jr. Had 75 Catches for 1,668 yards with 18 TDS as a Sr. Had a state record 13 receptions in the 2006 state title game, Was also an outstanding DB and finished his Plant career with 7 interceptions. He also lettered in Track. Signed a scholarship to the University of Auburn.

2008 – Dontae Aycock, Chamberlain
Talented dual threat quarterback who finished his junior season with over 1,000 yards rushing and passing each.  Aycock, a 5-foot-10 led the Chiefs to an 11-2 record, a District championship and Class 5A region final appearance while leading the county in rushing yards and scoring his senior year.  Aycock passed for 1,491 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed for 1,406 yards with 28 touchdowns.

2009 – CJ Bennett, Alonso
QB 6’0″ 198 3rd team All State, 2nd team (Trib.) All County, 1st team (Times) All County, 2nd team All Suncoast as a SR. 2nd team (Trib.) All County, 2nd team (Times) All County, 2nd team All Suncoast as a JR. Led Alonso to back to back playoff appearances. Threw for school record 58 Career touchdowns for the Ravens. Signed a scholarship with the University of South Alabama.

2010 – Quentin Williams, Jefferson
QB 6′ 190 Twice Selected 1st team All County by both the Tribune and the Times, 2x 1st team All Suncoast, 2x 1st team All Western Conference, 2x 1st team All State, Named Honorable Mention All County as a Sophomore by both the Tribune and the Times. Named 2010 Suncoast Player of the Year, Tribune Player of the Year, Times Player of the Year and Mr.Florida Football. Led Jefferson to the final four as a Jr. and set school records by throwing for 3377 yards and 34 TDs. His Sr, season he led the Dragons to the State Championship with a perfect 15-0 record and smashed his own school records and set state records by throwing for 4451 yards with 56 TDs. He also set State career Passing records by throwing for 10,384 yards with 109 TDs. Signed an athletic scholarship to Bethune Cookman University.

2011 – Nelson Agholor, Berkeley Prep
RB/DB 6’2 185 Under Armour All-American, 3x 1st Team All State, 2x 1st team All Suncoast, 2x 1st Team Tribune All County, 2x 1st Team Times All County, Was Tribune and Times 2nd Team All County as a Sophomore. Was the class 3A state player of the year. Led The Buccaneers to 3 straight playoff births, a first in school history. The 2012 BCP Offensive Player of the Year. Finished his career with 4,732 yards rushing with 62 TDs, 916 receiving yards with 10 TDs, Had 12 Ints and 2 defensive TDs plus 7 kick return TDs. Also an Outstanding basketball player he signed a football scholarship to the University of Southern California. Was Selected in the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

2012 – Vernon Hargreaves III, Wharton
DB 5’11” 180 A 5 Star recruit who was named to the Under Armour, Parade, and USA Today All-American teams. Was named MVP of the Under Armour All-American game. As a senior he was the class 8A player of the year, 1st team All-State, 1st team All Tampa Tribune, 1st All Western Conference. Was Named the Suncoast Defensive Player of the year. The BCP Defensive Player of the year and the Tampa Bay Times Defensive Player of the year. As a junior he was 1st team All-State, 1st All Suncoast, 1st All County by both the Times and the Tribune, 1st Western Conference and 2nd All BCP. As a Sophomore he was 2nd All Conference and Honorable Mention Tribune All County. He led the Wildcats to back to back playoff appearances and finished his career with 18 touchdowns, 9 interceptions and 5 blocked kicks. He signed a scholarship with the University of Florida. Was Selected in the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

2013 – Deiondre Porter, Jefferson
QB 6’1″ 190 A three year starter, he led the Dragons to a 10-2 record as a Sr. and a birth in the state playoffs. Was named Big County Preps Player of the Year, 1st team All State, 1st team All County by the Tampa Tribune, Offensive Player of the year by All Suncoast and the Tampa Bay Times. Threw for 3,199 yards with 33 TDs and rushed for 1,499 yards with 20 TDs. Signed a scholarship with the University of Florida.

2014 – Ray McCloud III, Sickles
RB 5’10” 175 He was a 2012 1st Team All Tribune and an Honorable mention All Suncoast pick. In 2013 he was 1st team All Western Conference, 1st Team All Suncoast, 1st Team All Tribune, 1st Team All State and BCP Offensive Player of the Year. In 2014, he was selected 1st Team All Western Conference, Suncoast Hillsborough County Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All Tribune, 2nd Team All State, Under Armour All American and 1st Team All BCP. Set Hillsborough County career Rushing yardage record with 5,765 while rushing for 58 TDs. Led Sickles to their first two District titles in school history. Signed with the University of Clemson.

2015 – Markese Hargrove, Plant City
RB 5’9″ 170 He was 1st team Tampa Tribune All County, 1st team All Western Conference, 2nd team All State, 2nd team Tampa Bay Times All Suncoast, 2nd team All BCP and a Hillborough County All Star as a Sr. He was 1st team All Conference, 2nd TBT All Tampa Bay, 2nd TT All county and won the Bill Minahan Award as a Jr. . Led the Raiders to 3 consecutive playoff trips including the District title and a school record 11-2 mark his Sr. season in which he ran for 1,731 yards & 13 TDs. Ran for 1,365 yards & 9TDs as a Jr. . with a 4.8 GPA he accepted an Academic Scholarship and will play football at USF.

2016 – Malik Davis, Jesuit
RB 5’11” 190 He set the Hillsborough county career rushing record with 7,029 yards and had 84 TDs. He was named 1st team All State as a Sr. 2nd team as a Jr. and Honorable mention as a Soph. 3 times he was 1st team All County and All Tampa Bay. He was twice named The Tampa Bay Times offensive player of the year. His Sr. season he ran for 2,469 yards and 33 TDs. He helped Jesuit to 4 District and 2 Regional titles in his high school career. He signed a football scholarship to the University of Florida.
