2009 Dairy Farmer Class 3A Player of the Year

Q has become one of the most admired figures in Hillsborough County. It’s a testament to how good this young man was, that he maintained his position as one of the best QBs ever to play at Jefferson High School and in the State of Florida. Is Williams the best gunslinger ever? Maybe, Maybe Not. But Q is in the Greatest of ALL Times discussion with a very good 3-year stretch from 2007 to 2010. I could think of a long list of adjectives to describe Quentin William’s performances over the years, only they would all fall short. Quentin has a lethal with his arm and great feet in the pocket. To be mentioned with great such as Tebow, Marve, Murray and Kelly is and accomplishment. A mobile quarterback, who is a legitimate running threat like Williams is an invaluable weapon. He make defenses vulnerable, and increases his ability to pass effectively just by the threat of him taking off. Williams has been both an exciting player and an effective player throughout his career, which is a hard combination to maintain.

Offensive Player of the Year: Conner Powers, RB, Newsome, Sr
In true fullback form, Powers was a straight ahead back, who never folded on contact with oncoming defenders at the point of attack. Conner Powers was a man amongst boys. Power’s statistical record proved him to be durable and powerful. Powers ended his career with 756 carries, 4,435 rushing yards and 57 TDs. He overpowered the opposition for four quarters of football. During his senior campaign, Powers rushed for 1851 yards on 243 attempts, 7.62 yards per carry and 28 rushing TDs.

Defensive Player of the Year: Anthony Chickillo, DE, Alonso, Sr.
Chickillo was a devastating pass rusher and just as tough against the run. The combination of speed, strength and intelligence was unmatched. Offensive tackles had to be in a two-point stance and on their heels when Chickillo lined up in a 6 or ghost 9 technique. Chickillo capped his senior year with 71 solo tackles, 127 total tackles and 18 sacks. Bringing his career numbers to; 28 games started, totaling 322 tackles, 45 career sacks, 2 interceptions, 15 pass break-ups, and 4 TDs. Chickillo’s first step is remarkable! You could argue that Chickillo is the most complete pass rusher in Hillsborough County history. He possesses a variety of moves and plays the run as well as any DE before him. Chickillo was always the most dominate player on the field.

Specialist Player of the Year: Frankie Williams, ATH, Robinson, Sr.
Williams is fun to watch no matter what position he is playing. Whether he is covering opponents best WR, scoring as a WR on offense or returning a kick, Williams is a volcano about to erupt at any time. With Williams back deep, any kick is a possible scoring opportunity. Williams senior season average return was a spectacular 14.4 on punts and 42.57 on kick offs.

Coach of the Year: John Lima, Brandon
2006 3-8 District Runner-Up
2007 7-4 District Champions
2008 2-8
2009 3-7
2010 9-2 District Runner-Up

Lima took Brandon on an incredible run. Winning their first 6 games, going 9-1 in the regular season and losing to countryside in the 1st round of the state playoffs. Brandon reached as high as #4 in the BCP weekly rankings , while starting the season at #25 in the preseason rankings. Lima edged out Al Davis (King) and Robert Weiner (Plant) to be names the 2010 All BCP Coach of the Year.

1st Team Offense

Pos. Name | School | Class ; Stats

QB Josh Grady | Armwood | 2011 ; 2009 2nd Team All BCP Offensive ATH, Grady “uped” his game to 2,168 pass yards and 24 pass TDs.

RB JJ Hubbard | Robinson | 2011 ; Did David knock over Goliath? JJ sure did! How does 1,447 rush yards sound and 27 TDs?

RB Matt Jones | Armwood | 2011 ; The 3rd year is a charm. Matt Jones played 6’3″. He played as big as rushing for 1,300 yards and avg 7.4 yards per carry.

WR Andre Davis | Jefferson | 2011 ; Back to Back 1,000 yard seasons for Mr. Davis. 1,286 and 99 yards per game this season.

WR Chris Moore | Jefferson | 2011 ; When the big lights were bright, Moore glowed like a full moon; 49 receptions for 1,500 yards, 107 ypg and 21 TDS

WR Tyron Baker | Spoto | 2011 ; Does Spoto really pass the ball? If Ty catches 61 of them for 1,134 yards, I think the answer is YES!

TE Joe Worth | Newsome | 2011 ; What’s option #2 after the offensive player of the year? Maybe it’s “Worth” a try to pass the ball 24 times to Joe (401 yards).

OL Tony Posada | Plant | 2011 ; BIG? YES. Solid? 90% of the time. Sexy? Ummmmm……

OL Cody Waldrop | Armwood | 2012 ; 2009 1st Team All BCP OL: What an offensive lineman looks like. The prototype big dog play that gets D lineman eliminated.

OL Jordan Prestwood | Plant City | 2011 ; 2009 1st Team All BCP TE: Lineman don’t grow on trees, but Prestwood is tough like one and has the feet of a 16 year old ballerina.

OL Andre Gunn | Hillsborough | 2011 ; 2009 1st Team All BCP OL: For close range, do you select the baby 22 cal. or the double barrel shot Gunn?

OL Kevin Reeves | Jefferson | 2011 ; When the Dragons needed a yard, Reeves was the butt to run behind. Great hands and feet make Reeves a 1st Team selection.

Utility Charles Lovett | Hillsborough | 2011 ; Special! Almost impossible to cover, tougher to stop…2009. 1st Team All BCP WR, like it or “Lovett”.

ATH James Wilder Jr. | Plant | 2011 ; Last season’s BCP Player of the year was still the Hemi engine under the Plant hood. 1,525 rush yards, 21 TDs, 283 rec yards, 72 tackles and 8 sacks.

ATH Nick Addison | Spoto | 2011 ; Flat out PLAYER! 2,410 pass yards, 24 TDs, 227 rush yards, 80 tackles, 2 INTs, 12 PD.

PK Mattias Ciabatti | Hillsborough | 2011 ; “The Kicker” as long as he is good, you can deal with him. This one was pretty effective going 5/7 on FGs (50 yard long), 31/33 PATs and 23 Touchbacks.

R Rashad Dunnigan | Jefferson | 2011 ; As good as Dunnigan was as a CB, his special teams contribution was just as impressive returning 18 punts for 312 yards (17 ypr) and 26 yards per KOR.

1st Team Defense

Pos. Name | School | Class ; Stats

DL Tyriq McCord | Jefferson | 2012 ; His upside is incredible, but this year was fabulous. McCord totaled 60 tackles, 41 solo add on 17 sacks.

DL David Tinsley | Armwood | 2011 ; He can play ever position on the DL and dominate at each one. Take away his 92 tackles and does Armwood advance?

DL Earl Moore | Hillsborough | 2012 ; If he can be blocked by 1 offensive lineman, then the earth is flat and 63 tackles is not very good for NG.

DL Shawn Council | Brandon | 2011 ; The smallest player on this BCP line, but the fastest 1st step comparable to “Man Man”. 8.5 sacks and 2 caused fumbles.

LB Erik Striker | Armwood | 2012 ; The runner up for the 2010 All BCP Defensive Player of the Year, Striker makes plays! Tons of them, 16 sacks, 4PD and 4 CF worth of plays.

LB Matt Suarez | Plant | 2011 ; No longer in the shadow of Josh Veron and Mike Mirabella, the foundation of the Plant D was built on Matt this year (84 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 CF).

LB Rodney Williams | Hillsborough | 2011 ; New school, same result. 1st Team AGAIN! 59 solos and 81 total tackles. Big Hit Rod!

LB Ramik Wilson | Jefferson | 2011 ; There is a jersey #1 on every team, but Wilson plays like he is #1 on everybody’s list. 16 sacks, 4PD and 6CF how does that sound?

S Leon McQuay | Armwood | 2013 ; Leon McQuay from Blake? Nope, but the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. Sophomore year saw 51 tackles and 5 INTs.

S Jermaine McKinney | Armwood | 2011 ; Missed some games, but never missed a play. 2009 All BCP Defensive Player of the Year was still a terror. He’s a nightmare for RBs (35 solos, 4 sacks).

CB Eric Patterson | Plant | 2011 ; Coach says to QB, “Where’s #1? Throw it the other way”! Not much got passed Patterson as he totaled 53 tackles, 16 PD and 1 INT.

CB Jeremiah Green | Hillsborough | 2013 ; Get to know the name and respect his game. Playmaker for the Terriers with 5 INTs and 12 PD.

P Kody Thomas | Robinson | 2012 ; What a weapon to have a punter that averaged 37 yards per kick and could pin the opponent inside their 20 four times.
