Alonso High School Athlete Receives Vanguard Award

May 3, 2012 (Tampa, FL) – Vanguard Attorneys is proud to announce the March Vanguard Award recipient. Amy Mildebrath, a senior from Alonso High School, not only excels as a student athlete but she is active in the community as well. Vanguard Attorneys will present $1,000 to the Alonso High School athletic program during the school’s Senior Awards Banquet on Tuesday, May 15 th at 7 p.m.

Mildebrath is a true example of a leader. Helen Turnquist, her college counselor, describes Mildebrath as a selfless individual. “Amy is an unbelievable student not only in the classroom but outside of it, too,” says Turnquist.

Throughout high school, Mildebrath has certainly proven her commitment to being a model student athlete. As a Teen Mentor for Lowry Elementary, she has provided guidance for younger students for the past three years. She is a member of the Alonso High School track team and was selected as the swim team’s MVP. With an excellent GPA, Mildebrath plans to attend Stanford University next year.

Each month, the Vanguard Award selection committee recognizes a new Hillsborough County high school athlete for their contributions in their sport, in the classroom and in the community. The winning student’s school’s athletic program receives $1,000. These programs are crucial to the community’s growth and the success of Hillsborough County students. Vanguard Attorneys appreciates the dedication among coaches and student athletes and created the award to show their support.
